Who is The Griddle Guru?

I’m not a professional chef.  I’m just a regular guy who thoroughly enjoys cooking outdoors, especially on a griddle.  I distinctly remember walking through a Dick’s Sporting Goods store in Virginia and seeing Blackstone’s 36” 4 burner griddle for the first time—it was love at first site.  I had never seen anything like it before in the outdoor cooking world.  Prior to that moment, I’d cooked mostly on outdoor grills like the Weber Kettle Grill and Go Anywhere Grill.  Don’t get me wrong, I loved those mediums for cooking (and still do), but the griddle was just different.  I’d never seen anything like it and was excited to pick one up and start cooking.

My griddle journey wasn’t seamless as I learned about griddles and things like seasoning a griddle and maintaining a griddle and temperature control among others.  In fact, out of frustration, I initially sold my “OG” Blackstone griddle because I was a novice and didn’t know the ins and outs of maintaining a griddle.  Shortly thereafter, I purchased a 17” Blackstone griddle (with the front-grease management system) and picked back up where I’d left off with the 36”.  Since then, I’ve owned well over 20 different griddles and have lost track of the number of griddle accessories I’ve purchased and used.

At the end of the day, I love cooking on a griddle and am inspired by my faith in Christ and embrace the idea of cooking as a way to love others, living out the Bible’s call to “do all things for the glory of God.”

So if you’re looking for tips and tricks from a regular guy about anything and everything related to cooking on a griddle (and hosting up amazing gatherings for friends, families, and neighbors), you’ve found your home.
